Radical Future(s): Future(s) Assembly

Radical Future(s): Future(s) Assembly - A Participatory Futures Fair Design sprint, meet science fair
An energetic evening where bold ideas are shared, tested, and transformed—sparking dialogue and mobilizing action for our collective futures and our shared present.

Design sprint, meet science fair. The Future(s) Assembly is a space where tomorrow’s ideas are shared, tested, and transformed — creating impact today. Blending speculative imagination with collective action, the evening begins with rapid-fire lightning talks that seed conversation and spark imagination.

From there, attendees circulate through an interactive fair, engaging directly with presenters and their ideas. Each Future(s) Station offers a chance to explore an idea up close — to listen, interact, and even help prototype. From speculative designs to grassroots experiments, the event invites participants to co-create, test, and reimagine concepts that could shape what comes next.

Goals & Objectives

The Future(s) Assembly aims to create a space where creative vision meets tangible experimentation. By combining fast-paced presentations with hands-on interaction, we’ll foster cross-sector collaboration, spark bold ideas, and empower participants to see themselves as active co-creators of equitable, resilient futures.

Attendees will gain:

Exposure to diverse, future-facing ideas — from speculative design concepts to grassroots initiatives already in motion

Opportunities to actively participate in shaping ideas through direct dialogue, feedback, and co-creation

Strategies for turning inspiration into action—connecting imagination with practical steps toward equity and resilience

The Future(s) Assembly will be hosted by a multidisciplinary team bringing deep experience in civic innovation, public interest technology, and participatory design.

The core facilitation will be led by studio b:ask, an organizer and designer with a track record of producing cross-sector events that bridge creativity, equity, and systems change. To ensure a grounded and actionable conversation, we will invite civic leaders and technologists working in the “tech for public good” space to act as panelists, decision-making guides, and thematic anchors for the interactive components.

This combination of community leadership, systems expertise, and participatory facilitation ensures the event will not only inspire but also provide tangible pathways for collaboration and implementation.
